About Safe HavenSafe Haven Maternity Home is a nonprofit organization established in 1992 to provide a safe home environment that inspires and provides resources to pregnant young women and mothers with babies in crisis. Over the last 30 years Safe Have has helped over 600 women and babies. Our services extend to all women regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, mental or physical challenges or inability to pay. |
Healthy LifestylesIt is essential that residents are equipped with the tools needed to maintain a healthy lifestyle before they leave Safe Haven. To this end, Safe Haven offers hands-on opportunities to learn about healthy meal planning and prep, nutritional needs, and exercise. Residents even have the chance to grow their own food. |
Residency ProgramSafe Have provides a safe home environment for up to 8 women and 8 babies at a time. Each mother's immediate basic needs of food, shelter and safety are met. The home has staff 24 hours a day, 7days a week to provide supervision and support. Individualized care plans are created in order to successfully meet the specific diverse needs of each individual woman. The goal is to ensure each mother can create a successful fresh start for herself and her child. |
Life SkillsThrough over 5 different diversified classes, mothers grow more knowledgeable and strengthen their path to independence. Classes may include job preparedness, economic stability (financial classes), personal growth, parenting development, and self care. Counseling is also available along with addiction recovery support. |
Transportation ProgramImagine if you had no access to appointments due to lack of a vehicle, or ability to have a driver's license or unable to afford insurance. The transportation program opens up so much for our residents. One main contributing factor to inadequate prenatal care is the lack of reliable transportation. Safe Haven provides our mothers and babies with access to any medical appointments, pre and post natal care, legal appointments, school, work, community agency resources, recovery meetings and shopping. After Care ProgramWhen a mother has successfully completed the Safe Haven Program, support is provided for her to locate affordable housing, obtain employment, find safe child care and any other needed support as she transitions into independent living. The after-care program is personalized to support each person’s individual needs including personal counseling and on- going mentorship. |
